World Toilet Day celebrated at Multani Mal Modi College Patiala
Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala observed “World Toilet Day” based on the theme “Making the Invisible Visible” that hints how inadequate Sanitation systems transport human waste into rivers, lakes and soil, damaging sub-surface water supplies. The College Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar said that such observance is important as raises awareness among students about sanitation practices to be followed to keep diseases at bay. Dr. Ashwani Sharma, Dean Life Sciences, said that proper sanitation facilities and practices promote good health, and such activities are crucial to spread awareness.
An awareness lecture on “Awareness on Sanitation Hygiene Practices” was delivered by Dr. Manish Sharma and Dr. Heena Sachdeva of Department of Zoology. The lecture was attended by 143 students of different streams. A survey on “Awareness on Sanitation Hygiene Practices” was conducted. The Google Survey form was filled by 443 teachers and students. Analysis of the data is presented in bar graphs, which shows that the respondents rated general public toilets of Patiala as below average on mainte
nance, whereas that of Modi College have been rated above average, i.e. better than the general public toilets. However, the domestic toilets have been rated as the best of all the three.
